Sales Commission Calculator

Math

Calculate a flat or tiered (marginal) sales commission from a sale amount, plus an optional base salary added to the total payout

Compute a sales commission either as a flat percent of the whole sale amount or as a tiered, marginal structure where each rate only applies to the slice of sales that falls within that tier, the same way progressive tax brackets work. An optional base salary is added on top to get a total payout, which matches how most quota-based sales compensation plans are actually structured. Everything is plain arithmetic over the numbers you enter, there is no connection to payroll systems or real commission records.

How to use Sales Commission Calculator

  • 1.Pick flat rate for a single percent applied to the whole sale, or tiered for marginal rates that only apply to the slice of sales within each bracket.
  • 2.Enter the sale amount and either the flat rate percent, or each tier's upper bound and rate (leave the last tier's upper bound open for unlimited sales).
  • 3.Add an optional base salary to see the total payout alongside the commission alone, and review the per-tier breakdown in tiered mode.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between flat and tiered mode?
Flat mode applies one rate to the entire sale amount. Tiered mode applies each tier's rate only to the portion of sales that falls within that tier, so a rep who clears a higher bracket doesn't get the higher rate retroactively on their earlier sales, only on the new slice.
Can the top tier be unlimited?
Yes, set the last tier's upper bound to null (or leave it as "no limit" in the browser tool) so every tier below it caps out but the final tier covers any amount above that.
Does this handle draws, clawbacks, or split commissions between reps?
No, it only computes a single rep's commission from a sale amount and a rate structure. Draws, clawbacks, accelerators that change retroactively, and multi-rep splits are outside what this pure-arithmetic tool models.
Is my data sent anywhere?
In the browser tool, no, it all runs locally. The REST API, SDKs, and MCP tool only process the numbers you send in that single request and don't store them.
